Just wanted to write a quick post today since it is my 1 year pole anniversary.
A year ago today, I went to my first pole dancing class and it changed my life forever.
I distinctly remember thinking how slippery the pole felt and how I barely had enough grip strength to do a fireman spin.
I remember thinking that pole dancing was a lot harder than it looked (believe it or not).
I still remember the first time I saw my instructor Lindsey do an inverted crucifix and thought, “It’s going to be a while until I can hang upside down with no hands.”
And here I am now.
If someone were to tell me that in a year I would be able to do all the moves I can do now, I don’t think I would have believed them. But, I guess when you are filled with passion and determination, anything is possible! I also don’t think I would have predicted how much of an impact pole would have on my life. After my cheerleading career came to an end, I didn’t think I would ever be able to find another sport/activity/hobby that I loved as much I as I love cheerleading. While cheerleading still holds a place in my heart (as it will forever), I’m so happy that I found something else that brings me such joy. Pole is so many things – fun, sexy, challenging, exercise, dancing, expression, empowering. It’s become more than a hobby for me; it’s a way of life.
Here are a couple of then and now pictures that show how far I’ve really come!
I am currently working on a 1 year compilation video that highlights the ups and downs (literally) of my pole journey. I’m planning on writing a more detailed post about my pole experiences and accomplishments over the past year, so I will be linking the video in that entry!
This is inspiring!!! Cannot wait for the Video!!! You have motivated me to get serious about pole dancing. Thanks!
Thank you! With hard work and dedication always comes progress 🙂
