Top 10 Pole Performances of 2013

This post is a part of the December Blog Hop for the Pole Dancing Bloggers Association

It’s almost 2014! I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays and spending time with their loved ones. Before the year is over though, I wanted to squeeze in one more entry – I decided to recap 2013 by listing the top 10 pole performances (in my opinion of course). This is also my first blog hop post for the Pole Dancing Bloggers Association! I have been part of PDBA for a few months now, but this will be my first time making an actual contribution, so I’m super excited about that. Participating in more blog hops will most definitely be on my list of New Year’s resolutions…

Without further ado here are the top 10 pole performances of 2013. Just as a disclaimer, although I technically “ranked” them from 10 – 1, it’s pretty impossible to determine which routines are “better” than the others because each and every performance brings something amazing and unique. So, I guess I would say the ones that are ranked higher just stood out to me more personally, but I absolutely love all 10 of these performances!

  1. Amanda Rose – PPC 2013 Level 3 JR Champion

  2. Amanda is relatively new in the world of pole competitions, but even with only 2 years pole experience, she is fierce. This routine is packed with strength moves and powerful, faced-paced combos. I love her signature trick, the spine breaker spin, at 2:25!

  3. Veronica Solimano – Pole Expo 2013 PoleStar Showcase

  4. I saw this routine live when I was at Pole Expo 2013 and my mouth was open in awe the entire time. Veronica is a powerhouse! This is a very trick-heavy routine. The stamina that Veronica must have in order to do trick after trick after trick is seriously impressive. I also really liked the “hurricane/storm” theme – all the big, dynamic movements fit the song perfectly. My favorite moves are at 1:02, 1:08, and 3:56.

  5. Nataliia Tatarintseva – Pole Art 2013

  6. Nataliia’s gorgeous lines, beautifully pointed toes, and dynamic movements really make this routine stand out as one of the best of 2013. The strength trick at 1:53 is executed perfectly and the tumble at 2:10 is super fluid.

  7. Charlee Shae Wagner – National Aerial Pole Art 2013

  8. With a background in competitive cheerleading, Charlee’s routines are always both fun and strong – this performance is no exception! Her extreme flexibility and amazing strength are showcased very nicely. I am also a big fan of her signature tricks: one-handed back flip (1:14), the funky Charlee (1:25) and doulbe fonji to janeiro (3:14).

  9. Samantha Star – APC Level 4

  10. If anyone can make pole dancing look effortless it is most definitely Sam Star. She is ridiculously strong, and this routine is chock full of power and pure strength moves. I love her jump into shoulder mount (0:21), push up into handstand from headstand (0:59) and shoulder roll sommi fonji combo (2:55).

  11. Heidi Coker – Pole Art 2013 Women’s Champion

  12. Elegant, graceful, and smooth are some of the words that came to mind when I first saw this routine. This is not a very trick-heavy routine, but I believe that Heidi’s immaculate execution of her seemingly simplistic moves and unique transitions (see 0:52, 0:56, 1:07, and 2:10) ultimately led her to the title of Pole Art 2013 women’s champion.

  13. Kenneth Kao – Pole Classic Competition at Pole Expo 2013

  14. This was another performance that I saw live at Pole Expo 2013. I have to admit that the best part of the routine, hands down, is when Ken jumps from the static pole to the spinning pole at 0:45. I still remember watching him look back and forth between the poles looking like he was ready to leap across the stage and thinking, “There’s no way he’s going to do that!” Well he did, and the crowd went wild! The rest of the routine is just as amazing and filled with tons of strength moves that originally derived from Chinese pole.

  15. Olga Trifonova – ISPF World Pole Sports Championships 2013

  16. When this video was first uploaded, it spread like wildfire within the pole community. Olga is only 10 years old but can execute extremely advanced moves requiring that even some seasoned professionals cannot. This routine is very faced-paced and filled with gymnastic/contortion based movements. My favorite combos are at 0:42, 1:24, 1:56, and 3:40.

  17. Tatyana Gordiyenko – Pole Art Cyprus 2013 Professional Winner

  18. Words cannot express how much I love this routine. Both stunning and simplistic, Tatyana has such a wonderful stage presence and her playful personality shines through. This performance is a perfect example of a completely balanced routine – flexibility, floorwork, strength, and fluidity are all showcased. Tatiyana also includes some unique combos such as cartwheel to jade (2:35) and the deer (2:55), as well as some serious strength moves at 1:57 and 2:06.

  19. Sergia Louise Anderson – 2013 U.S. National Pole Champion

  20. This is definitely my favorite performance of 2013. Not only does Sergia demonstrate her amazing strength, extreme flexibility, and impeccable technique, but she does it through telling a story and connecting with the audience. The musicality and fluidity in this performance is absolutely stunning. I love how so many of the moves and combos fit so perfectly with the song cues (see 0:56, 1:13, 1:57, and 3:09). My hat goes off to Sergia for raising the bar in the world of competitive pole dancing.

Happy New Year and see you all in 2014! 🙂
